Project Number: 2022-1EL01-KA220-VET-000088384
Teachers and trainers are an important part of Vocational Education and Training. Their role is critical to the development of learners’ skills that need to be aligned with the current labour market needs. To do so, VET trainers and teachers should be equipped with the necessary tools to enhance and effectively support VET learners in their apprenticeships, not only by training them in practical occupational skills, but also a soft and socio-emotional skill set.
Regarding the latter, they include intangible personal characteristic traits that describe the way learners interact with others and how they respond to daily working tasks. Some of them can be communication, time management, teamwork, adaptability, autonomy and self-motivation. By enhancing those skills, apprentices are able to work effectively, establish a positive relationship with their co-workers and employers and implement their knowledge adequately. Thus, they are fundamental not only in how they navigate their daily working life, but also in their future professional career.
COVID-19 and the subsequent advancement of distant/hybrid working means have made the need for further development of soft skills more important than ever. In the Skills4VET project we work closely to underline the importance of addressing these needs and offer an insightful and detailed guidance for the skills required in order for learners to effectively complete their apprenticeship.
