Station 1
Connecting Employability with Labor Market Needs
In our fast-changing environment, employers demand changes. Technical skills are not enough anymore. Employers look for prepared youth who have a solid background but also a positive attitude that will make their integration into the labour market easy. It is crucial that VET educators are aware of market trends and skills demand in order to prepare their trainees for the labour world. The VET institution must keep constant alert on the main current and future labour market trends so to adapt their educational offer and keep on date with the latest employers requirements.
This station will focus on three main areas where we can observe a growing skills demand: Digital skills, environmental skills and transversal skills. Those trends can be observed in an economy that is not only highly digitalised but also with a growing regulation in terms of environmental requirements. In the last part, we will also review several industrial sectors with increasing job opportunities, which is for instance the case of healthcare services to adapt to demographical changes. By increasing their awareness about this demand, but also discovering the competencies framework associated with those skills, trainers will increase the chances of a good match between educational offers and market needs.
